Born in 1979 in Istanbul, Elif Mutlu graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 2003. She completed her residency training in psychiatry in Bakırköy Psychiatric Hospital in 2010. She became assosciate professor in psychiatry in 2017.
Between 2006 and 2007, she worked in the fields of psychotherapy and integrated psychosocial services as a guest speciality student in the following institutions; Wagner Jauregg State Hospital/Austria, International Family Centre e.V. and Clinic of Bambergerhof/Germany.
For five years, between 2010 and 2015, Ms.Mutlu worked as a specialist of alcohol and substance abuse in the Clinic of Alcohol and Substance Abuse of Bakırköy Psychiatric Hospital, also known as AMATEM. Between the years of 2014 and 2015, she was assigned as the coordinator of the Probation Unit.
She has been working as thenational expert of the EMCDDA (European Monitoring Center for Drug Addiction) for 6 years since 2012. She has studies and scientific publications on substance abuse and transcultural psychiatry. Between 2015-2018, he was the Director of the US Institute of Psychiatry and the Surp Pırgiç Armenian Hospital Addiction Clinics, and the co-editor of the Journal of Addiction. She is currently the associate editor of the Journal of Current Approaches in Psychiatry. She served as the Secretary General of the Turkish Neuropsychiatry Association in 2018-2020.
She worked as a faculty member at Istanbul Gelişim University between 2016-2021 an as the Director of Addiction Clinics and Medical Director at the French Lape Hospital in 2019-2023.
Elif Mutlu provides treatment and consultancy with her multidisciplinary team in her clinic (Impulse Psychiatry and Psychotherapy). She is the vice president of the Turkish-German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychological Health. In addition to her clinical and academic works, she is providing courses, field experience trainings and clinical supervision programs for different professionals.
